Unlocking — What It Actually Means
Streaming platform content is licensed by region. Netflix's US catalog differs from what's available in Japan or Hong Kong; Disney+ isn't even live in some regions. This isn't deliberate "restriction" — it's the geographic segmentation of licensing contracts.
So-called "unlocking" means making your network's exit address land in a region where the platform is supported, so the platform thinks you're there. For example, to watch Netflix's US library, you need a route with a US exit; to watch BBC iPlayer, you need a UK exit.
Platforms don't detect your physical location — they detect the geolocation of your exit IP. As long as the exit IP lands in a supported region, you can access that region's library. That's why a route's exit region matters more than its bandwidth.

Native IP vs Residential IP
Streaming platforms vary in how much they trust different IP types. Choosing the right IP type makes a clear difference in unlock success rate.

Actual Bandwidth Requirements for 4K & Dolby Vision
Below are the official bandwidth thresholds recommended by each platform, for reference when choosing routes. In practice, route stability matters more than peak bandwidth — even with enough bandwidth, heavy evening congestion can degrade quality.

Note: 4K streaming doesn't require extreme bandwidth — stability is key. Our relay routes and IEPL dedicated lines differ in evening stability. When choosing, refer to the bandwidth labels on the route list.

When you hit an error, first confirm whether your current exit IP's geolocation matches the target region. If it matches and you still get an error, try another route in the same region or retry later — platforms sometimes tighten IP checks temporarily.
Choose Routes by Viewing Needs
Choose a US native IP route. Netflix has strict IP requirements; relay routes often trigger proxy detection.
Choose a Japan native IP route. Disney+ strictly validates exit regions, so native IP is recommended.
Relay routes are fine; choose a route in your account's registered region. YouTube is relatively lenient about IPs.
Choose a UK native IP route. BBC iPlayer strictly validates UK IPs; residential IPs have a higher success rate.
