Different connection types have different trade-offs in stability, latency, and cost. Understanding the differences helps you choose the route that best fits your use case.

IEPL dedicated line

International Ethernet Dedicated Line

An International Ethernet Dedicated Line is a point-to-point private connection established between carriers, with data not forwarded over the public internet. The dedicated path is fixed, with low packet loss and stable bandwidth, and is less prone to congestion during peak hours. Because dedicated bandwidth must be purchased from carriers, IEPL routes have the highest cost among the three types, but they also offer the most reliable stability.

Relay

Relay Routes

Traffic is forwarded through intermediate nodes, selecting an optimal path between the source and destination to reduce unnecessary detours. Relay routes strike a good balance between stability and cost, making them the recommended choice for most everyday use cases. For streaming unblocking, video conferencing, and daily browsing, relay routes deliver a solid experience.

Direct

Direct Routes

The client connects directly to servers in the target region without intermediate forwarding. Because the path is the shortest, direct routes have the lowest latency among the three types, making them suitable for scenarios that require real-time performance. When the destination is far away or international links are congested, direct routes may be less stable than IEPL dedicated lines, but they are relatively more affordable.

Choosing the right route type and regional node based on your use case makes cross-border access smoother.

Daily Browsing

For browsing websites, sending and receiving emails, and looking up overseas materials, relay routes are sufficient. They offer a good balance between cost and stability, and remain smooth in most everyday access scenarios. Choosing a relay node in Asia results in lower latency and faster page loading. If you're accessing a website in a specific country, simply select a node in that country.

Streaming

When watching streaming platforms, prioritize IEPL dedicated lines or relay routes. Dedicated lines provide more stable bandwidth and reduce buffering, while relay routes cover a wider range of streaming platforms. Different regional routes have different unblocking capabilities for platforms, so check the streaming support labels in the table. For 4K content, choosing a dedicated node labeled with your target platform gives a more stable experience.

AI Tools

When accessing AI tools, IEPL dedicated lines are the most reliable choice. AI tools require high network stability, and the fixed path and low packet loss of dedicated lines effectively reduce connection interruptions. If a dedicated line is temporarily unavailable, choosing a relay route in the target region also provides a good experience. It's recommended to prioritize nodes close to where the AI service is deployed—for example, choose US or European nodes when accessing Claude.

Gaming

Online gaming is very sensitive to latency, so direct routes are recommended. Direct routes have the shortest path and lowest latency. Also, choose regional nodes close to the game server—for example, US West Coast nodes for US servers and Tokyo nodes for Japanese servers. If latency is still high, try switching to other routes in the same region to compare.

Work

Remote work requires a stable and reliable connection, so IEPL dedicated lines are recommended. Dedicated lines are not affected by public internet congestion and perform well in video conferencing and large file transfers. If budget is limited, relay routes can meet most work needs, though fluctuations may occur during peak hours. It's advisable to test route stability before work hours and choose the node with the least latency fluctuation.
